Challenges in Flash

Todays Friday, blog day! today the teacher has asked us what our challenges are in flash. We really haven't started wokring in flash a lot yet, but when we did last year, there were many challengeing things for me. I had a lot of problems with looping, animation, and sometimes buttons. I think flash is a good game making system but it is very challengeing because I get tired after awhile trying to get one little thing to work. Flash is mostly all about coding, and you always have to have the exact coding to get something to work, it you don't have the right coding then is won't work at all or make a little part of it will. You have to really know what your doing when your in flash, but after awhile you get use to it. Well thats all for this week, thanks for reading!(:

Paper Prototype

All this week we have been working on our paper prototype. Just yesterday we completed and recorded our paper protoype. Our game is going to be about coal mining cause this is what most WV citizens do. We are trying our very hardest to figure out how our game will be set up. I think when we really start making our game it be much easier to decide how the game will be set up. Our main goal in this game is to learn students and teachers about the history of coal mining in WV. We have been researching on the topic of our game and have found out many new things we didn't know before. I guess thats all for this week!(:

  • The Big Idea: Describe your team's game topic. What is the most important concept you want your players to learn? Our game topic is coal  mining and players will learn the history of coal in WV.
  • Making Decisions as a Team: How did your individual ideas from "Imagining Your Game" come together for your team game topic? How did your team decide the topic?
We just agreed on our game having the same idea in differnt ways.
  • Roles & Responsibilities: Tell us more about your team process. Please each talk about your specific roles, and how you work together. We work together putting all our ideas together and agreeing as a team.
  • Research: What kind of research went into the way you will express the game topic?
We mosly searched on the internet, "the history of coal mining in WV".
  • The User Experience: Explain the game play. What actions does the player take in the game? Has this changed since you first started planning your game? Why? The action in our game will be going in the coal mines crushing up coal. And yes our game has changed it was gonna be about the titanic.
  • Mastering Flash: What Flash resources have been most helpful in your learning so far, and why? How did you locate these resources? We searched everything on the internet
  • Overcoming Challenges: What curriculum topic has been most difficult for you so far? How did you overcome this difficulty? Probably deciding whats going to happen next in the game.

non-Quiz Game

Today is Friday! that means it's blog day. Most of the week we have been working on our paper prototypes. The mean goal I hav for this game is for it NOT to be a quiz game. There was many reasons why my partners and my game won't be a quiz game. Our idea for our game is to be able to be moving a coal buggy under the mines and a long the way to finding all the coal you will have a question and you will have to go through the right tunnel that has the correct answer. I am pretty excited about getting started with our game, I think it will be a success as long as we keep focued. Our game topic is WV history, and so where we live is all about coal we have decided to make a game about coal, I think its something knew and I think many students could learn from this awesome game we're making for them. I think this game will let students all around WV know that coal mining isn't all about being underground it's helping coal miners take care of there family's. Maybe even this game will make students want to be a coal miners when there older. Well thats call for this week! Thanks for reading! :D

Game Ideas

It's Friday so that means it times to blog! Todays topic is going to be about our project ideas. Me and my partners are planing on do our game about the history of the titanic. We have been practicing paperprototyping and it has helped me understand how our game will be set up. We was planning on making it where you can drive the titanic with your arrow keys while trying to miss the iceburgs. If you hit a iceburg a differnt screen will pop up and it will tell you a statement about the titanic. I'm actually pretty excited to see how our game is gonna turn out, we will just be working our harded trying to make the best titanic game ever! I guess thats it for this week, see you next week!(:
