It's Friday, that means it's time to blog! Today we are blogging on what we have done in globaloria so far. We have actually did many things already, such as doing mini games, finding out what our game topic will be, and have made our team page, and many more different things. I think this year is starting out to be a great year for globaloria and I think this is gonna be a success for my partners and I. Our game is gonna be about the titanic I'm not sure how we're gonna set it up yet but I'm sure it will be a great game! The hardest thing I think we have done so far was the mini game because it's confusing with adding the codes to make the carrot move. I guess that's all for this week!
1) What does it mean to have a 'single story' about a place or community? It means that people that has met someone from your community they think that everyone is like that.
2) Describe a single story you have heard told about your community. What is missing from that story? How could people learn more about that community? I haven't really heard a sing story about my community but most of everyone that comes down here thinks that were just hill billys but actrually were hard workers and nice, kind hearted people.
3) Describe a single story you have heard about another community. How did you learn that story? How could you find out more about that community? I have heard that in New York most everyone is proper and I would only find out for sure by going there and talking to some people and find out what there actscent is.
4) How could a game let players experience many stories about a place or community? If there was a game about experienceing many stories about a place or community it would give a better understanding about the place or community
WHO are you designing your game for? (Include the player's age, abilities, and prior knowledge of your topic.) I am designing the game for my class mates and other 8th grade students, ages 12, 13, 14
WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic? (Be specific!) My game will teach about world history.
WHERE does your game happen? Ocean on the titanic
Describe the world you will design for your game. I really havent thought much about the place of the game but I was thinking maybe the titanic be a setting.
How will this setting add to the learning experience? I think this setting can add the learning exsperience because this in my opinon is such an interesting historal story that was real.
HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic? Becuase in the ocean was where the titanic sank at.
What happens in the world that helps the player learn? My partners and I really havn't thought to much about our game but we have thought about making the titanic and making to where you can move it around the ocean.
How does the player use what they learned to make something happen in the game? They will have to move the titanic and make sure they don't hit the iceburg while traveling to there destination.
WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz? It makes the topic more fun instead of learning it just by studying.
We have been doing Playing to Learn almost all week. I've played many differnt genres in playing to learn but the one genre I like most was adventure games. I like this genre because it has many fun games with this genre, and I do believe that my partners and I will make a good game with Adventures. Sally's Energy Ride was the one game that stood out the most to me in adventures because it was a very good game that teaches students how to take better care of the earth, it also has excellant graphics. Well I guess thats all for this week, thanks for reading!(:
It's a new year and a new globaloria class! I was kinda excited about going back to globaloria, I'm still trying to get back on track where I last left off at. I also have a new partner this year it is Alyssa and I think we are going to make a great game! Our topic is for sure going to be a history game but were still working on what our game with be about. I'm sure my globaloria class & I will have an seccessful year!
